| On Saturday February 14th, 2021, Denton and surrounding areas received a sizable blanket of snow. This promptly lead to the closure of classes, both in-person and online, on Monday. Starting late Saturday, Texas initiated rolling power outages across the state due to the record power demand. Even cities in South Texas which were barely affected by the snow storm had controlled outages. On Monday at 9:36 AM, UNT cancelled class for Tuesday, and on Tuesday at 12:25 PM, UNT cancelled class until Saturday. Many students rejoiced from this news considering UNT had decided to remove spring break to contain COVID-19; this week became a pseudo spring break.
