Spring Semester[edit | edit source]
Snow Day[edit | edit source]
On February 5th, Denton received a decent amount of snow. Having started snowing right after most classes ended, a large group of TAMS students ran around Mac Park while snow was falling down. Some students even built a snowman which survived for a few days. This day just so happened to coincide with the AMC test day, where all of the math nerds of flocked to the Chemistry Building a) for shelter against the brutal wind and b) to take the American Math Competition.

COVID-19[edit | edit source]
Leaving for spring break, many people did not realize that March 6th would be their last time living at McConnell Hall. On March 12th, 2020, all UNT/TAMS students received word that in-person class from March 16-22 was cancelled as classes transitioned to an online environment. Students were encouraged to stay off-campus. Soon after, students were notified that all classes would remain online for the remainder of the semester, and TAMS students were told to move out of McConnell for the rest of the semester.
Virtual Events[edit | edit source]
Even though COVID-19 restricted the ability to hold TAMS events, clubs and Staff held events virtually over Zoom. On March 23rd, 2020, TAMS experienced its first-ever virtual Seminar during which Staff went over plans on moving out of McConnell and answered questions from students/parents. Soon following this event, TAMS held its first virtual event of 2020, TEDxYouth @ TAMS which was broadcasted live on Facebook to all three Classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022 (incoming students). Overall, this event received high praise from many people including Dr. Gruver. Other club virtual events included hackTAMS and Worldfest.
Although it's often forgotten, TAMS has a seat in the UNT Student Senate. From April 6 to April 9, 2020, TAMS students elected their next senator, Navya Chintaman, with a 51% majority. Leading up to election day, campaigns and a debate were held virtually.
Graduation[edit | edit source]
While the cutting of the rose could not occur, Staff still held Rosecutting and announced student life awards. Unfortunately, graduation plans were completely cancelled and no substitute, besides a graduation video and webpage, was created.[1][2]
