There are countless traditions here at TAMS, and by creating this page, we're counting on future generations to keep them alive. Don't fail us.
Academics
- Running to seminar so that Gruver doesn't yell at you
- "Early is on-time, on-time is late"
- Card swipes (and frantically telling friends that Melissa is standing threateningly at the entrance with the menacing black box and laptop in her hands)
- Cramming onto the D-Park bus
- Which is especially unfortunate for the sad, sad CS track people during the hot, hot summers
- Skipping bio to escape the pain that is known as Crossley Lectures
- You didn't hear this from us
McConnell Hall
Wing Shenanigans
- After curfew food runs with wing
- Wing shirts
- Staying in your senior mentor's room past Room Time
- Sleepovers in that one friend's room that has a rug
- Sleeping in a friend's room because neighbors are too loud
- Sleeping in a friend's room because neighbors set something on fire
- Hanging out in the A200 Wi-Fi corner after curfew
- Curfew
Just Club Tings
- "Hit me"
- Tabling and buying things even though we're all broke
- Wall of Salt
- Exec season
- Bribing friends with printers to print your exec apps because they're due at 11:59 PM but curfew is at 11:00 PM and the computer lab closes at 11:00 PM
McConnell Food
- After curfew food (brought to you by none other than TCS, or TAMS Culinary Society)
- Free food at the front desk
- Typically, this includes leftover food from school-wide events
- Abi Kumar's post-bio-exam cookies (2019-2020)
Going to Pohl
- A flock of students migrating to Pohl's, usually in the evening
- Usual participants: James Yang, Zachary Li, Josh Wu, Caleb Tian, Daniel Xiao, Dalbert Sun, Vincent Virasin, Kevin Zheng
- Going to Kitchen West afterwards
Food
See also: Dining
- Walmart / Razor Ranch / Sharetea runs
- Eating at the Taste, Oriental Garden (OG), Chipotle, or Denton Square for celebrations. Or just because you're sick and tired of eating the same dining hall food for weeks straight.
- Flocking to Bruce for breakfast after 8 AM bio
- Bruce Waffle Wednesdays
- Bruce's birthday celebrations every Wednesday
- And consequently, cake every Wednesday
- Trying Kerr Burgers at least once
- Treatin yoself with Kerr's free ice cream
- Stealing 20 servings of Maple's appetizers
Miscellaneous
- Texas Academy of Misplaced Stuff
- TAMS W's / TAMS L's. Or as I like to call it, The Duality of Man
- Running to CVS
- Halloween
- Free Insomnia Cookies
- Discounted Chipotle
- Wing trick-or-treating
- Bruce Haunted House
- Realizing that you forgot your ID when it's lunchtime and sneaking into dining halls by "borrowing" a friend's ID
- Watching movies with friends at the Business Leadership Building over the weekend
- TAMS Vans
- The godly vehicles that will take you to Walmart / Razor Ranch / Sharetea for Important Business, schools in Denton for volunteering, and Far Away Places for competitions
- Especially for those Far Away Places that take hours to drive to, your legs and back will start making you feel like a #grandparent. TAMS Vans aren't known for their spacious leg room, but the memories that persist in these cramped white vans outweigh back pain any day.
- The godly vehicles that will take you to Walmart / Razor Ranch / Sharetea for Important Business, schools in Denton for volunteering, and Far Away Places for competitions
- Waiting for a laundry machine but having to (apologetically) take clothes out of the washer/dryer because dam you love hygiene
