Absolute lad.

Lucky is an albino fox squirrel living on UNT campus. More accurately, "Lucky" is the name given to a white squirrel seen on campus, but since sightings are inconsistent, there appears to only be one Lucky. Lucky is a true albino, meaning he/she has distinctive pink eyes and no non-white fur. Earliest recorded sightings of Lucky date back to the 1990s.

Although not scientifically proven, a sighting of Lucky improves your chances of receiving an A for any exams that day. So, if you happen to come across Lucky, make sure to snap a photo!

Lucky had such a large cultural presence that, in 2003, a petition was made to formalize Lucky as the official secondary mascot of UNT.[1]

Vehicle Accident[edit | edit source]

On December 20th, 2016, the UNT Staff Senate Twitter handle announced the passing of a Lucky. This iteration of Lucky was hit by a vehicle while crossing Highland Street. A UNT Staff member rushed him to a vet but treatment was not given in a timely manner.[2] The passing this albino squirrel set off a chain of news outlets in North Texas announcing Lucky's death.

Now, Lucky is forever enshrined at the Elm Fork museum in the Environmental Science Building.
