Bruce Hall is a residential hall at UNT which has a dining hall within it. It is very close to McConnell Hall and is a convenient place for TAMS students to eat meals. The food is widely regarded as the worst out of the dining halls. Hosts events like Star Wars Dinner, Harry Potter Dinner (Christmas), birthday celebrations (every Wednesday), and Haunted Houses (Halloween).

Bruce Hall

Type Dining Hall
Distance from McConnell 1 minute
Known for Bruce Pizza

Breakfast

Grains/Carbs

  • Cereal
  • Waffles, along with a waffle bar (whipped cream, fruits, syrup)
  • French Toast
    • Alright, but they taste weirdly sour.
  • Pancakes
  • Oatmeal
  • Potatoes

Protein

  • Eggs
    • Boiled - it's hard to ruin a boiled egg.
    • Fried - not bad, but quite oily.
    • Scrambled - powdered; not real eggs.
  • Sliced sausages

Fruits

  • Kinda self-explanatory, unless you're asking about the quality of fruit that Bruce serves. If that's the case, go to Maple.

Main Line

  • Famous for its inexplicably charred and dry yet sometimes undercooked Rotisserie Chicken.
    • Maybe I'm being too mean to Bruce. Sometimes the chicken is decent, but it doesn't change the fact that it is dry as the Sahara Desert. Great for gettin dem gainz.
  • A combination of vegetables and meat (both of which are mediocre for a lot of people, but I'll leave that up to you to decide)

Salad Bars

Bruce operates two self-serve salad bars in front of the Main and Mediterranean Lines. They are usually closed for breakfast, though pancakes are served once a week and occasionally various berries show up. There are a variety of vegetarian foods for lunch and dinner. The bar closer to the Main Line typically contains the same foodstuffs day to day such as salad, olives, and cheese. The bar closer to the Mediterranean Line rotates choices every day from tofu to beans to plantains. It turns into a phở bar every Wednesday evening with chicken, beef, lobster, and other flavor stocks, one of Bruce's redeeming features.

Mediterranean Line

  • Great quality overall, but the line can be a long wait.

What it consists of:

  • Pita bread or flatbread
  • Roasted chicken breast
    • that you're supposed to put on the flatbread, but some people just get the chicken by itself. That's okay too, I suppose.
  • Leafy greens
    • Spinach, other leafy greens whose names I don't know
  • Vegetable toppings
    • Cucumber and tomatoes
    • Olives and chickpeas
  • Sauce
    • Avocado Ranch
    • Green Goddess
  • Sometimes they have SOUP which is exciting

How to eat

  • eat like taco
  • Or with toes. Silverware is a societal construct.

Pizza Line

  • The pizza tastes alright, but the slices are incredibly thin and oily.
  • For some reason, they also serve pasta and vegetables in this line.

Types of pasta

  • Shape of pasta
    • Bruce (yeah idk either), Macaroni, Fusilli
  • Saucy mamas
    • Bruce (again, idk), Alfredo, Marinara

Types of vegetables

  • Green beans
  • Carrots
  • Cabbage

Types of pizza

Cheese, Pepperoni, Vegetable, Stromboli

Ways to eat

  • Crust first to add some more spunk to your life
  • Switch it up and eat it cheese down
  • Roll it up and dab on dem haters
  • Take a napkin and blot out the Oil so that the US Government won't exploit your pizza like they did to Saudi Arabia
  • Normally, as a boring person would

Beverages

The following beverages are available during all operating hours of the dining hall, unless it runs out (from personal experience, coffee and milk often do).

  • Water
  • Ice (crushed, not cubed)
  • Coffee
  • Milk (whole, reduced fat 2%, soy, and chocolate)
  • Tea
  • Orange juice, Cranberry juice, Apple juice
  • Soda
    • I'm not gonna list all of them because that takes effort :(

Events

Bruce has special events once in a while that help break up the monotonous rôtisserie chicken such as a Thanksgiving lunch with turkey, gravy, and other classic dishes, a Harry Potter-themed dinner around Christmas, and a Cajun meal with crawfish. Every Wednesday at 5 PM, the names of students with birthdays that week will be read over the loudspeaker and a live musician will perform while cake is served.
