Welcome to TMS Shadows! Our committee strives to provide you with direct exposure to various branches of the vast field of medicine, primarily through medical shadowing and guest speakers. Shadowing medical professionals is an extremely beneficial opportunity to learn about the variety of medical careers and opportunities that await interested students, so we will be arranging opportunities to shadow doctors throughout the school year. Furthermore, we will be hosting guest speakers to discuss their professions and their experiences with the medical field. We look forward to working with you!

Denton Nursing Home (DNH) is a joint committee, under both TAMS Medical Social (TMS) and Helping Other People Everywhere (HOPE). DNH provides students the opportunity to interact with the residents of the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home, twice a week. Our volunteering opportunities include making crafts, hosting parties, and, in general, playing games and spending time with the residents of the nursing home. DNH is an amazing opportunity for TAMS students to be involved in serving and making an impact in the Denton community. If you ever have any questions, feel free to contact any of us via Facebook messenger or email us at tamsnursinghome@gmail.com. === Student Emergency Response Team (SERT)===

Outreach
SERT is a new committee under the TAMS Medical Society with the purpose of educating future medics about procedures necessary for medical emergencies and disaster relief (i.e. CPR, AED, “Stop the Bleed”). Along with providing general lessons and/or workshops on medical procedures,  SERT allows students to experience biannual CPR and AED demonstrations from the Denton Fire Department and the opportunity to receive CPR certifications from the American Heart Association. Volunteers can serve the community by administering First Aid during emergencies or in the case of injuries at various events.

Welcome to TMS Outreach! We are a committee dedicated to educating the youth of Denton about medicine; whether it be on neuroscience, emergency response teams, or veterinary medicine, our goal is to inspire elementary and middle school children to get involved in medical fields. Through the incorporation of interactive activities and games along with lessons taught by our very own students. TAMS students will volunteer within the classroom weekly, providing a safe, friendly, (and most importantly) fun environment to spread the importance and variety of the medical field. Our mission is to spread the passion for medicine from the TAMS community to a future generation of medics.

Women In Medicine (WIM)
 +
Women in Medicine provides an opportunity for all students to pursue their interest in medicine. As a TMS X Girl Up committee, we are passionate about both medicine and bringing awareness to the inequality faced by non-men in medicine. Through guest speakers and informational events, we hope to support the underrepresented in the medical field, strive for gender equality, and support and educate the students of TAMS.

Once a year, TMS publishes Stethoscope, a TAMS Medical Society's medical journal that compiles medical information from our student community. Each year, TAMS students submit articles and artwork about their passions to be published for the greater TAMS and UNT community. The Stethoscope committee allows students writing for the magazine to gain perspective on the latest in medical research, healthcare innovations, and interdisciplinary collaborations with medical applications. <gallery>

Denton Nursing Home (DNH)[edit | edit source]

Denton Nursing Home (DNH) is a joint committee, under both TAMS Medical Social (TMS) and Helping Other People Everywhere (HOPE). DNH provides students the opportunity to interact with the residents of the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home, twice a week. Our volunteering opportunities include making crafts, hosting parties, and, in general, playing games and spending time with the residents of the nursing home. DNH is an amazing opportunity for TAMS students to be involved in serving and making an impact in the Denton community. If you ever have any questions, feel free to contact any of us via Facebook messenger or email us at 1. We are super excited and let’s have a wonderful year!

Outreach[edit | edit source]
