The TAMS Computer Science Organization (CSO) exposes students to the wide array of topics within computer science such as web development, cybersecurity, APIs, hardware, and much more!

hackTAMS[edit | edit source]

hackTAMS is a hackathon organized by CSO. This event originally only allowed TAMS students to participate but has grown to become the largest free high school hackathon in DFW.

Competitions[edit | edit source]

At the start of each semester, CSO holds a tryout for their CS competition teams. Usually, there are three advanced teams and two novice teams.

Unlike other clubs, CSO did not have many committees until 2020-2021. Each committee specializes in a specific niche of computer science or focuses on community service.

The TAMS CSO Cybersecurity Committee is here to introduce you to the fascinating world of computer security. We will be hosting theoretical and practical lessons as well as hands-on activities and competitions to develop skills in binary exploitation, reverse engineering, networking, digital forensics, and cryptography. Come and join if you would like to push the boundaries of your knowledge in computer science beyond what you are taught!

Cybersecurity was merged into CSO from the now defunct TAMS Cybersecurity Association.

TAMS CodeEd is a committee of the TAMS Computer Science Organization devoted to teaching local middle schoolers at Calhoun Middle School how to program. We volunteer each week to train kids in the basics of programming, from Scratch to C++.

We are the TAMS committee of Girls Who Code under CSO! Our mission is to encourage girls in the Denton area to pursue careers in computer science by working with the organization Girls Who Code and volunteering with local schools.
