After TAMS, he attended Stanford University where he majored in music with a concentration in vocal performance and minored in computer science. Shortly before his Stanford graduation, he abandoned plans to attend the Boston Conservatory for graduate studies in voice and instead applied to medical school. He spent that year as an MCAT lecturer for the Princeton Review while also performing in an Equity production of the musical Forever Plaid.
