[[hackTAMS]] is a hackathon organized by CSO. This event originally only allowed TAMS students to participate but has grown to become the largest free high school hackathon in DFW.

== Competitions ==
At the start of each semester, CSO holds a tryout for their CS competition teams. Usually, there are three advanced teams and two novice teams.

Unlike other clubs, CSO did not have many committees until 2020-2021. Each committee specializes in a specific niche of computer science or focuses on community service.

Our vision is to serve and inspire the TAMS community and the greater Denton community by instructing and involving student developers in the use of APIs. We aim to spread information of APIs and cool API projects through a novel approach of “mini-thons,” which are miniature hackathons, an involved and encouraging Facebook community, and community outreach.

The TAMS CSO Cybersecurity Committee is here to introduce you to the fascinating world of computer security. The TAMS Hardware Committee aims to provide computer hardware related services to the TAMS community in the form of workshops and volunteering opportunities. We also run PCs2Prosper, a volunteering opportunity where you can sign up to refurbish and fix laptops and computers for people in need.

Our mission is to help map areas where people in need live. Use satellite images to trace buildings, roadways, and other features in vulnerable areas. No computer science experience needed and completely beginner-friendly! Volunteering hours will be determined by the number of features mapped.
