=== Sesame Call ===

Stanford student and TAMS alumna [[Lainey Wang]] created a video-calling Chrome extension start-up called [https://www.sesamecall.com/ Sesame Call] with her girlfriend, Stanford student Maddie Wang. After Lainey introduced it to TAMS students, it quickly became one of the primary ways of socialization for TAMS students. Lainey later quit the Sesame development team, which is now solely run by Maddie. Sesame was popular amongst students, but did not completely catch on due to the extension being solely for Chrome; senior [[Ben Wang]] made a [https://github.com/wbne/sesame-in-firefoxish questionable Firefox port] for the Sesame extension.

=== Arctic Blast / Snow Week ===

On Saturday February 14th, 2021, Denton and surrounding areas received a sizable blanket of snow. This promptly lead to the closure of classes, both in-person and online, on Monday. Starting late Saturday, Texas initiated rolling power outages across the state due to the record power demand. Even cities in South Texas which were barely affected by the snow storm had controlled outages. On Monday at 9:36 AM, UNT cancelled class for Tuesday, and on Tuesday at 12:25 PM, UNT cancelled class until Saturday. Many students rejoiced from this news considering UNT had decided to remove spring break to contain COVID-19; this week became a pseudo spring break. Most students lost access to the internet, and even if they had cellular internet, UNT's websites and server infrastructures were offline.
